Now could be a great time to invest in real estate. The trick is to have the funds to successfully invest.
Here is an example:
You could buy a distressed property for 60 or 70 percent of it's real value. You could make the property livable with paint, new carpet, and new appliances. The property can then be rented out, creating cash flow. The objective is to get 9 or 10 percent after all expenses. Then when the market recovers, perhaps two or three years the property could be put in a condition for sale, perhaps adding granite counter tops, landscaping, etc. Then put it on the market to sale 30 or 40 percent above your purchase price. All added up over a three or four year period of time, with the right property you could come close to doubling your money.
